Spring is here and we have once again started our 2011 season targeting tautog. We managed to get out four times last week which is pretty good for this time of year. The recreational fisherman in Delaware have received some good news as far as the regulations on seabass go last week. Our seabass season will remain the same as 2010 regulations which means we can begin seabass fishing May 22, 2011. We also have a flounder regulation that is still in the public comment period till tomorrow, but the general consensus is that we'll see an 18" size limit with a bag limit of four until October 24 when the season will close. This should provide us with a few more of those tasty flounder fillets going home with our anglers.
Alex Levantowsky and the all star crew joined us for our first outing of 2011. The guys had a nice pick of fish finishing with about half a limit as many of the fish went back for another day. Don Kopp and friends joined us next after the passage of a low pressure center. The left over swell and brutal anchoring conditions were mother natures way of protecting her stock. The guys hung in there and fished hard but the end results were not up to par. The following morning Don Yocum and friends joined us and we opted to once again tog fish. It was the right choice as the tautog bit. We had an excellent catch including two 7 lb fish. Don Yocum and friends were back with us the following morning and we went after the tog once again. The keeper ratio was not as good as the day before but they still put together half a limit.
Give us a call if you would like to get in 2011 and don't forget to take the kids fishing!
