The Black Drum fishing is finally in full swing with fish up to 90 pounds. We are fishing circle hooks exclusively for these monster drum. Once hooked we have had a 100 percent catch rate which enables us to harvest or release them unharmed if folks choose. The black drum fishery will continue thru early June so anyone wanting a chance at Delaware bay tuna is not to late yet. Seabass fishing in the ocean is producing some quality fish as well. We will be looking for some thresher sharks this coming month as well.

The folks from MSP equipment rentals were aboard entertaining clients for what turned into a nice day except for our lack of a drum fish bite. Dave Mickley and friends joined us the following morning after a forty knot blow over night. We were forced to fish tight to the beach for stripers which proved to be once again elusive, so we settled for releasing a few tog and lots of sharks. That evening Ray Fisher and friends joined us under calm conditions and harvested seven black drum from ranging in size from 40 lbs up to 88 lbs for Thomas Ryan. We were right back after them the following morning harvesting four more fish in the 55-75 lb class. Brandon Hipps 14 years of age landed one of these bruisers each trip unassisted.

We headed back out that same evening with EAATS second of the 166th Army division. It was our pleasure to lead these fine folks to a fine night of drum fishing capturing 11 in two hours up to 90 lb 4 oz for Brian Graybeal. Thank you folks for respecting the resource and releasing five of the eleven for another day. After a couple nights off due to wind we headed out Seabass fishing. Alex Levantowsky and friends harvested 77 nice seabass and a five pound pollock. Barry and Barb Wanner captured two nice drum to 59 lbs and were pleased to head home.

We have a few more afternoon trips available for drum fishing for anyone interested in capturing a Delaware Bay Tuna. Thresher seabass trips will begin first of June as well and maybe we will have some bluefishing in June as well.
