We have finally got some nice sized croakers in the bay. Flounder fishing remains strong and will remain an option thru September. Some seabass are starting to show back up in the mix as well. The combination of these will provide us with some really good mixed bags on bottom fishing trips from now thru early October. We still have dates available if you would like to get out for these tasty bottom fish. The yellowfin tuna have begun responding on the chunk in the northern canyons so hopefully our turn will be right around the corner.

Art Henry along with his duck hunting club joined us for a day of bottom fishing. As it turns out it was the roughest day of the summer and the flounder just would not cooperate in any numbers so we had to settle for a nice catch of croakers. Kevin Trafka and coworkers joined us next and had a nice day. We harvested a handful of nice flounder with plenty of throw backs, an excellent catch of nice croakers, and a few blowfish. Larry Gardner and friends had an excellent catch of croakers, a few blowfish and a triggerfish. Larry and crew fished hard for the flounder but they only bit for a short period of time during which they put two nice keepers in along with the throw backs.

John Toomey and family joined us next and had a nice halfday. The kids did a great job catching a bunch of nice croakers, plenty of flounder including one keeper and three blowfish. Jim Skymba and friends joined us next as we headed offshore. We trolled up two white marlin but didn't get the release on either and with things slow we opted to do some tilefishing. This was the right choice as they harvested an great catch of both golden and blueline tilefish up to 35lb for Tom Foltz. The highlight of the trip was a 44.5lb snowy grouper caught by Dave Moncrief.
